FAQs

Jetski

What’s the difference between a Jetski and waverunner?(collapse)

For rental purposes, there is no difference. We refer to one or all throughout this website but we are always talking about the 3 seater personal watercrafts.

How fast will your Jetskis go at Under the Bridge Watersports?(collapse)

This really depends on the water conditions such as the chop in the water and the currents, as well as the total weight onboard. One person on a ski will obviously go faster than three people on a ski. At Under the Bridge Watersports, the skis we rent are capable of going up to 55 miles per hour, and on the water, that’s fast! You don’t have to go fast of course, but if you want to, our riding area behind Assateague Island allows enough freedom to keep your machine full-throttle for the entire ride!

Are the prices of your Jetski rentals at Under the Bridge Watersports per person?(collapse)

Definitely not! The prices listed are per watercraft, not per person, so they include the Jetski driver and up to two additional people, depending on their size and the total combined weight.

Can we take the Jetskis anywhere we want in Ocean City?(collapse)

This is the second most asked question. Maryland requires that any rental Jetski stay within visible sight of our highly trailed guides (they are there for your safety). Luckily enough, our guides have great eyesight so our riding area is quite large! This means that each trip has a personal lifeguard (or two or three) for the duration of your adventure. If you are renting the Jetskis at our Under the Bridge Watersports Marina, you may be lucky enough to see dolphins near our riding area or even some of the famous wild Assateague ponies!

Does the instruction time count as part of my driving time?(collapse)

No way! Your Jetski adventure does not begin until you physically leave our docks heading out for the water! By the time you get back, we promise you’ll agree that of all the many things to do in Ocean City Maryland, Jetski rentals are one of the most fun and memorable attractions!

What is the minimum age to rent a Jetski in Ocean City, Maryland?(collapse)

You must be 16 years of age to actually rent Jetskis in Ocean City, “BUT” you must have a parent or guardian sign for you if you are under the age of 18. All operators must present a valid photo ID with birthdate, and must complete a Boater Safety course (see next FAQ). If you do not have a driver’s license or other photo ID, we suggest you obtain a state ID card from your local Department of Motor Vehicles prior to your vacation. (If you left your ID at home, that’s not a problem! We have a fax machine so that a friend or loved one can fax a copy of your ID directly to our office to confirm your age and identity and get you out on the water!!)

Where do I go to take the Boater Safety course?(collapse)

The Boater Safety course can be completed on site, at our Watersports Marina, located on the docks of The Angler. It takes around 15-30 minutes to complete the course, and it is “open book” with the answers right in front of you – so there are no excuses to get any wrong! This course is temporary and only works while under the supervision of our guides for the hour that you reserved. If you decide you would like to come back another time and rent from us again, unfortunately state law requires us to re-administer the test (but that’s okay, by then you should be a Jetski guru!) We ask that if you are renting a Jetski from us to please arrive “at least” 30 minutes prior to your reservation time to get squared away and complete proper testing.

Banana Boat

How many people can ride on the banana?(collapse)

The banana seats 12 people at one but the boat holds over 24. We do one trip from the Ocean City Inlet to the Delaware State Line, then the 12 people on the banana switch with the 12 people in the boat for the return trip. This means that you get to view all of Ocean City one time from the boat and one time from on the banana!

My friend or family member is riding the banana but I want to stay dry, how can I watch?(collapse)

We have a limited number of spots reserved for spectators on each trip. These usually go to those families with minors, but if we have any extra room we will take as many spectators as we can legally hold! During our busy season, you may not get a spot but if you just head beachside, you’ll be sure to see your family flying by on a giant banana!

If I’m riding the banana boat, am I going to get wet?(collapse)

Absolutely yes! This thrilling watersport guarantees that you will get wet. Don’t worry though, our crew is highly trained so if you are worried about being in the water, there will be plenty of people there safeguarding you every second! Banana boating is considered one of the safest watersports and is less dangerous than tubing, waterskiing, or wakeboarding!

What other companies are offering oceanside banana boating in Ocean City?(collapse)

Currently, there are NO other companies in Ocean City that offer oceanside banana boating. As a matter of fact, there are no other companies in Ocean City that offer banana boating AT ALL.

What is the minimum age for banana boating?(collapse)

This is mostly up to your discretion, but we request that we don’t have any riders on the banana boat that are less than 5 years of age. If you have a young child, we kindly ask that you also ride the banana boat to ensure that they stay on the vessel.

Who drives the banana boat?(collapse)

Our highly trained Coast Guard certified captain and crew! You just need to sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride. You won’t be responsible for driving or steering, you’ll just need to sit tight and hold on!

Pontoon Boats

Who drives the pontoon boat?(collapse)

You do! All you need to drive is a valid photo ID proving that you are 18 or older. We provide a boater’s safety course to instruct you about how to drive safely on the water, but don’t worry it’s a lot easier than it sounds.

Can we bring pets, kids or alcohol?(collapse)

Yes, please do! Keep in mind that there is a limit on each boat for the number of bodies, including pets. This means that if you reserve a 13 passenger vessel, you can only have a maximum number of 13 adults, children, and pets. On the other hand, there is no limit to the alcohol that you bring! People also like to use our pontoon boats for “booze cruises,” an Ocean City tradition that involves renting a pontoon and designating a “sober skipper” to drive you to all of the dockside bars on the bay side of Ocean City!

What’s the maximum capacity for the pontoons?(collapse)

The majority of our pontoons hold 14 to 15 people, but please call if you would like to request any special accomodations.

Can we use the pontoon boats to tube or fish?(collapse)

Yes, please feel free! We rent tubes and fishing equipment as well as bait. If you don’t bring the supplies, rest assured that we will have the right equipment for you to rent. If you decide to fish, all of our vessels are equipped with up-to-date fishing licenses.

Where can we take the pontoons?(collapse)

The pontoons can be used anywhere in the bay! This means that you can visit any of the smaller islands or restaurants/bars with docks. Unfortunately, rental craft are not permitted in the ocean but there’s plenty to keep you entertained for however long you rent the boat!
